Hypothalamic Obesity Clinical Study: Transcend
Background
Hypothalamic obesity is a rare and complex form of obesity that often results from damage to the hypothalamus, the brain region responsible for regulating hunger and energy balance. This condition can be particularly challenging for younger individuals, as it affects physical health and can lead to psychological struggles due to rapid, uncontrollable weight gain. Given the limited treatment options and the profound impact on young lives, awareness and research are crucial.
Approach
To support a clinical trial aimed at potential treatments for hypothalamic obesity, I collaborated with the trial team to develop an integrated marketing strategy. Our goal was to educate potential participants and families while facilitating trial enrollment and engagement. This project included developing a dedicated website, creating animated video content, and producing print materials for participants and site staff.
Key Tactics:
Website Development: A central educational website was built to serve as a resource hub for potential participants. It included detailed study information, eligibility criteria, and accessible educational content about hypothalamic obesity, helping families and participants understand the study’s significance.
Video Animation: To further engage and inform participants, I created an animated video to convey the study’s purpose, participant expectations, and potential benefits. The video, housed on the website, simplified complex information and was designed to resonate with younger participants and their families.
Study Toolkit: To further support both participants and trial site staff, we developed a study toolkit featuring print materials such as informational brochures, FAQ sheets, and instructional guides. These resources provided essential information at every stage of participation, helping site staff communicate effectively with participants and ensuring consistency in messaging across all locations..
